Hi all :)

Just ordered a hd 4850 and wondering if this 4400x2 cpu i have will bottleneck the card a lot?

Thanks :)

Haven't a clue as graphics cards aren't my thing, but the graphics card forum is usually pretty busy and someone there should know :)

yep, i have an X2 4200+ @2.65ghz and i benched my matesd 8800gt in it.

it was significantly slower on my machine than on my mates Q6600 so that chip will hold you back a little.

hence i am buling my X2 4200 into my media pc and getting an intel chip for games ;)

i am doing the same, i have the same x2 4400+ chip and have decided that the c2duo is the way forward. I have a c2duo in my laptop and it rips along, spec for spec my x2 should win due to the components but the c2duo just seems quick in all areas :) I might do a si-soft and see what the difference is between them :)

I just upgraded from a 4400X2 to q9450 and i am getting an extra 20 fps in css so i would say the cpu was bottlenecking even my old gfx card.

That's not a good example as the Source engine is massively CPU limited, you will still see a nice boost from upgrading but you'll definitely get the most out of your card with an overclocked C2D system.

well i am seeing the same in a few games now so although obviously new cpu is helping i would also say the old cpu bottlenecked the gpu a little.

Running a x2 939 at 2.9Ghz and not having any problems but thats with a 8800GTS. Only differance i notice is my 3D mark 06 score is a lot lower compared to intel rigs...though its not a game i play often :)

Beat quiet a few intel rigs on the crysis benchmark thread here so pretty happy.

What speed is the 4400x2 running at?

Well I thought the same with my x2 running at 3Ghz that it was just 3dmark06 I was losing out it in with my G92 GTS overclocked.

However, going to a q6600 at 3.4Ghz gave me 12 fps more in Crysis so at least that game was cpu limited with my AMD.

How much of that is down to my extreme GTS overclock and with a normal clocked GTS you might not be as limited and see such a boost.

Just curiuos but what do you get in the crysis benchmark?

Can see what you are saying but just can bring myself to change yet for so little gains in real game....though i know i will one day :)

Put a few intels to shame...rolling in at a lowly 74th but 2nd top amd :) okay so most are intel but still put up a good fight considering how outdated my rig is :)
