Hello,

I am looking at getting a gaming PC, capable of running games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Skyrim and most modern games at least with high settings.

Preferably, with an OS (Windows 7), a monitor (decent, but not too expensive), a 2GB Gfx card, 8GB RAM, and perhaps a 3.5-3.9gz CPU that could be overclocked.

Any ideas, spec-wise?

Cheers.

Is the Pentium K capable of running CS:GO and The Sims 4? It's tempting to pick one up at that price... sorry for hijacking this thread, but Stulid's build has piqued my interest to upgrade on a budget.

i guess the best thing to do would be to look second hand at a mid range build and then see how it would perform and then adapt to suit your own needs?

im a newbie to pc gaming and found that my budget was changing constantly, however i now have a rig that could last me a number of years, give or take a few things graphically and maybe in the long run this has saved me some money?

CS:GO yeah, I would have thought so, Sims4? I dont know, not sure as I have no interest in it, try searching Google for Sim4 CPU benchmarks.

Thanks for the replies.

Would AMD be a cheaper option, especially if I want a CPU clocked at least 3.5GHz and can be overclocked? This would require swapping the motherboard etc for an AM3+ socket.

I would look at a better PSU than the EVGA 430W, it isn't great and for about £12 quid more you can have even the Silverstone Strider 500W. The EVGA also doesn't have the required PCIE cables for the Powercolor R9 270X I believe, so you'd have to use one of those PCIE to molex adapter thingy bobs. The Strider is certainly better than the EVGA and has more power for future upgrades - it's not really the component to skimp on

Theoretically it will be fine though :)
