Hi

My brother wants to buy a computer, hes got up to 450-600.

What he needs:

  • Monitor
  • Motherboard
  • Graphics
  • Hard Drive
  • Memory
  • Case / PSU
  • DVD Writer Drive
  • Processor

He wants it for games..

What do you guys recommend? Thanks
 
CPU: Intel Conroe E4300 - £112

Ram: Crucial Ballistix 2x512MB 5300C3 - £105
GPU: Connect3D X1950 pro 256mb - £120

Little over budget, but that lot should last him a while ;)

I tried to spec a system for him too, gone over budget. I think it's quite hard to spec a gaming system for the required budget. Could get it nearer to £650 by getting a £30 Asus case and basic motherboard like a Asrock but its not going to clock as good as a higher priced board like a Gigabyte one for example!

An ASRock would be able to read 2.5-6ghz though?

Yea, thinking that myself.

Could knock about £50 off the spec I gave with having a case and psu combo.

Very close to what I was going to post. Has anyone tried out the Arctic Cooling case, I'm quite interested in that one.

They are quite good. They come with a 500W PSU which is also good.

Ive heard they are decent for the price.

The older versions came with a 350w Seagate PSU. I'm not sure which make this 500w jobby is :confused:
