£450 for a DSLR

Me neither ( well things could change ) but perhaps £375+

On the other hand, kit 18-55's goes for a lot less than £60.

As for a fast nifty 50, I managed to score a mint SMC-M f1.7 ( all manual of course ) for £28. But then i shoot Pentax, which can take advantage of superbly built glass from the mid 70's onwards, because Pentax were loyal to their customers and havent changed the mount since 74/75, unlike Canon.

Its what made me dump Canon in the end.

Or get a Nikon and have over 50 years of compatible lenses. :D
Long live the F-Mount

Amen !

Thing i like about Pentax apart from the 35 year back catalogue of lenses, is the in-body Image Stabilistion, which of course turns every old manual K mount lens into an IS lens.

The IS in-body, along with the lens back catalogue, is pretty unique i think
