£450 on a new card but which one

If I was wanting to use all of the budget then I would buy the 680. However, priced substantially less and capable of nearly (if not more) as good peformance as a stock 7970 is the 7950. If I was buying right now I would find it hard to say no the 7950.

+1

Yes, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI are brands which in particular regularly get plenty of praise for the quality of their products and more efficient RMA process. They would be the ones I personally would consider first.

Never heard of kfa2 but they have a uk rma centre. Not sure how long they have been around though...

At 1080p a 7950 is more than enough. Even out of the box.

I mean, since when was a GTX 580 3gb not enough any more? (ed. What I mean is a 7950 is every bit as good as a 3gb 580)

Unless you plan on going 3 screens or running 3D then a 7950 is more than enough for any game on the market.

I guess if money is absolutely no object then sure, go for a 680. Me? I would rather have a 7950 and an SSD or something. Mind you, you may already have one :)

If you won't overclock the cards go for the 680

If you are about to play, or are playing, Batman AC then buy the 680 as the physx effects really add to the game

Otherwise there is nothing really between the 680 and 7970 when overclocked.
