I need the above cleared up for me please.

If using a Canon 70-200mm F4 L with a Canon 1.4x extender on a 450D body will the autofocus still work fine?

Cheers.

Rather hopeless article tbh. The lens list is totally out of date and I can think of at least three lenses missing off it.

As for the AF compatibility list, why don't they just refer to the aperture rather than listing every damn lens!?

To the OP: Yes it will :)
Basically, the 1.4x costs you a stop whilst the 2x costs you two stops.
The 1D bodies will AF up to f/8 whilst all others will only AF up to f/5.6.
Therefore your 70-200 will be f/5.6 with the 1.4x and will thus still AF :)

Ah, brilliant!

It's slightly annoying that the F4 IS isn't supported because I was looking at the possibility of stretching my budget to one.

Cheers.

It is supported and is one of the lenses I referred to as being missing from that list - together with the 200mm f/2 and 800mm f/5.6.

All variants of the 70-200 work with the extenders. I have an F4 IS myself and have used the 1.4x with it.

The 70-200 F/4 IS is supported by the 1.4x converter. A quick google search shows this.
