According to my calculations it should be enough but want some other opinions:

165w-220w GPU think 5700xt
88w ryzen 5600x or 5700x
75w for the pcie Lane.

That's well below the 450w but am I being too easy going here?

What are you suggesting? Buying a 450 watt PSU because the total draw will be under 450? For a midrange system like that, I'd just get a decent 650 or preferably 750 and you'll have plenty of headroom.

If you want to try a PSU you already own, then sure, go for it.

It's probably cheaper because pc component power draw has increased massively over the past couple of years and nobody is buying the lower wattage psu's any longer so they reduce the price to get rid of them. Another reason for discounting is that it looks like it's been discontinued. Personally I wouldn't be happy buying a psu that is going to be running not far off it's maximum output all of the time. It's going to be noiser due to the fan having more work to do and not as efficient as a psu delivering 50-60% of it's maximum load. Another thing to look at is that if you buy a 450w psu now and upgrade the gpu in the future then you are going to have to buy yet another psu when you could have bought a bigger capacity one now and only spend the money once. It makes more sense to buy a psu around 750w now.
