Hi,

Right I'm in the market for a 46" LCD and my requirements are:-

1080p : For BluRay/HD-DVD
VGA : for 1080p Xbox360
HDMI : As many as possible
1:1 Pixel mapping : for 1920 × 1080 for HCPC (over DVI to HDMI)

some of the Samsung panels look pretty sweet but I thought I'd get some input ;)

Samsung LE46M87BD?

I have the 40" version M86. 1080p over VGA, component and HDMI. Sources are Oppo 981 (HDMI, scaling to 1080p) and HTPC (DVI-HDMI, 1920x1080)

Overall happy with it, has a few minor faults hopefully firmware/edid update will solve them. Check av forums as supposed to be problems with 24hz playback (requires latest firmware, edid/possibly new motherboard)

No dead pixels, very minor clouding (just noticeable on black screen)

Alternative sets don't have as many inputs. The Toshiba doesn't have per input picture settings, just a single setting to cover all inputs.

I had the Sharp XD1, but it only accepted 1080p over HDMI. The VGA/Component input is shared, and only supports maximum of 1360x768. The Sharps are plauged with problems, backlight hum, banding, ghosting, PSU buzzing. If they didn't have these problems I would've kept the Sharp, I think slightly better picture, also 2" bigger, had discrete IR codes.

Videocard keeps on disalbing secondary display (to the Samsung) I think when TV powers off it's instructing videocard it's switched off, when I switch TV back on it's disabled. Very annoying have to re-enable it everytime.

There are no other viable options in that size range at the moment. If you wanted to wait for a few months ( early Q4 ) sony will release the new W/X series, which will be the best sets but be expensive.
