I'm in the market for a decent graphics card. Ideally I wanted a Radeon 5850 but I'm just wondering if a GTX 460 would do as they are only £130 :D

My monitor is a 24" BenQ 1920X1080

Was going to buy the game for the PS3 but if I get it on PC then I can get a steering wheel and clamp it to the desk

Thanks!

f1 2010 is dx 11 not dx 9 , u might need some more power to play it maxed out on dx11.

check dirt 2 benchmarks on dx 11 it its same engine just f1 2010 is bit more demanding

I can run dirt to at full HD res, and have an average of 60fps, thats with my current 5770, i'll test later when my 460 gets here.

So if its the same game engine as Dirt 2, then yes a 5770 will be fine, also the 460.

I 'think' I'm going to have to get a 5850 as if I went with the cheaper 460 I'd be on the limit with my Antec 550w PSU. The 5850 comes in well under leaving me with a little breathing room.

Don't want to upgrade my PSU just yet

460 is on par with a 5850 power usage wise..

im sure you would be fine, these psu limits are guides, and a little overload would be ok, its not like all the components will be max loadsing all the time

Nvidia hardware performs better than the AMD equivalent cards in the Dirt2 engine, get a 460, it will do the job, and if you want more performance they clock for fun.

will the 768mb version be ok? I guess at that price I can always get another one a few months down the line (when I upgrade my PSU :D)

It will be more then fine, the 1gb models would be better if u can stretch to those, if not the 768 will still be good, and will beat the 5770 in F1 2010.
