I've got Vcore set to 1.25V @ 4.5ghz and got it to downclock automatically with the power saving settings, however I want to get the voltage to drop when it downclocks.
I can get it to drop by setting it to auto, but it gives me about 1.4V, which obviously isn't good, but it does reduce the voltage. So I set to normal and give it an offset and this also allows the volts to drop, is this the only way to do it?
As I'm worried it will change the voltage without me knowing? Or can you limit a max voltage this way?
I'm using a G1.Sniper Z87

Z87 should also downclock on a fixed CPU v if you manually set all powersaving from auto to enabled in BIOS
 
Yeah I've enabled all of them in the bios and the cpu downclocks to 800mhz but the voltage stays at 1.253V
 
I'm using 1.68 and HWmonitor as well, maybe I've missed a setting then, I'll have a double check.
It does reduce the voltage if I go normal and use offset, but not if I manually set the Vcore. The reason I wanted to manually set Vcore was to make sure it didn't go too high.

Yh I know what you mean n your right it will downclock through dvid

But haswell also should downclock with a fixed voltage due to the onchip vrm's,make sure your using balanced power profile in windows also,I asked about this on tweaktown a while back and some folks said Yh it downclocks in speed/voltage using fixed v provide you set all power saving to enabled and use latest CPU-z
 
Oh right, I'm on the latest version of cpuz.
I'm also on balanced power profile.
I have the following settings enabled, which are all the power related ones that I could find:
CPU enhanced halt (C1E)
C3 state support
C6/C7 state support
CPU thermal monitor
CPU EIST function

What are you using for offset/dvid? Each llc level will add a chunk of CPU v also,only way to reduce load CPU v is to use less dvid and or a lower level llc,till you reach 1.25v under stress
 
I've just set the Vcore to 1.25V and got LLC on turbo (the highest). I don't really know what dvid is tbh, I'm a bit of a noob at overclocking.
Does this mean I have to set the Vcore to normal then work out what to make the offset for the 1.25V that I want under load? If so is there any chance it can set the "normal" voltage higher at a later date?
 
Yeah,dvid adds that amount to the CPU v,and llc adds some more depending in the level and no it won't add anymore than what you set

I would try high llc and +0.015v dvid,then see what that gives you while stressing CPU,if you need more/less adjust dvid to suit,do maybe +0.010v or +0.020v and so on
