Hey, i have a 4670k. Tried OCing it and honestly it was just unstable so I think its a baddish chip.
I'm still rocking a GTX 670, looking to upgrade.
My PC is hooked up to a 65 inch 4k panasonic 902b which is beautiful.

I'm looking to buy a card to upgrade from. Which do you guys think is the best card which won't be severely bottlenecked by my CPU which doesn't want to OC?

Thanks for your advice

First read this ->Haswell OC guide<- Its not that long and a great source to get starting. Secondly we need to know a budget otherwise you will just be spammed with 1080ti suggestions.

tbh I have no budget. Its more just which card will be best value for money at this current point in time. I did think about the Ti but felt the games I play (mass effect 2, assasins creed 2) may under utilise the 1080ti

hooked up to a 4k screen, you need a 1070/980ti as a minimum, but you'll have to turn settings down quite a bit on games from the last couple of years, otherwise a 1080ti will cover you.

Do you want to play at 4k? I’m going to assume your currently gaming at 1080p considering you have a 670.
If your happy at 1080p then all you really need is a 1060 on a 60hz screen. If you want to play at a native 4k the Bare minimum is a 1080, with the 1080ti being ideal

I would upgrade your CPU to a 4770k and get a 1080ti.

There's really no need to upgrade the CPU to be honest. The 4670k will still hold it's own, paticuarely if it's over clocked.

If you do want to have some future proofing and are gaming at 4k then as others are saying a 1080ti is really the way to go. If you are just sticking with older games than a 1070ti might be a cheaper option, but if you do then pick up a newer AAA game it simply won't have the grunt to drive at 4k where as the 1080ti just about does.

For the sake of £50 or whatever it would cost to swap to an i7 I would do it especially as his i5 doesn't clock well.

My 3570k at 4.7 ran terrible when paired with a 1080

If he goes with some thing like a 1060 Im sure his cpu would be fine.

At 4,4ghz my i7 4770k will show a slight bottleneck on my stock(1875boost) 1080 ti on rare occasions. Its not bad and the overall experience has still so fare been superb. We certainly need more Vulcan titles if we want to hold on to our CPUs for longer.
