Would a rtx 2060 bottleneck my cpu (no overclock)

Could do with a GPU upgrade but ideally don't want to have to upgrade cpu as well?

Makes sense .

Current setup is
I5 4670k (not overclocked)
16gb Ram
780ti

I game at 1080p and as close to 144hz as I can.

Games wise I play pretty much FPS games, cod and overwatch at the moment but Division 2 upon release.

I've got the beta running at high settings (unsure of the frames I'm getting but it doesn't seem to struggle)

Ultimately I want to slowly start upgrading my pc.

Plan was to start with GPU as changing my cpu to a Ryzen or anything new will require new mobo and ram.

Current upgrade Id be looking at would be

Ryzen 2600
B450
16gb DDR4
£300

Or

GTX 2060
£300

Not being able to do both at once

How does Res and refresh rate affect the bottleneck? Surely higher resolution would be worse?

So in that case you think it would be more beneficial to upgrade cpu side of things first?

Based on the things you want I would buy the gpu and overclock the poo out of your cpu

Pick up a used 4790k,
I wish I could. Any overclock .even to 4ghz gives me a blue screen. Not sure whether my mobo is awful or my cpu is literally the worst of the worst.

Mobo - ga-z87m-d3h
Ram - Samsung green (4x4gb)

Upgrading cpu is a no go as they cost upwards of £150

wait till summer on the cpu change over if you upgrading doesnt matter about the gpu. as you will upgrade anyway. will be miles better than what you have now. while you wait.

no point getting 2600 now.

Because of the new ones coming out?

I'd consider a Vega 56 instead of the 2060 if you plan to tweak it. To quote Gibbo:

You should be able to get 4.2Ghz absolute minimum out of the 4670k with that mobo and decent air cooling, 4.4hz for something like 95% of chips.

I wish i could, although i lie, im overclocked to 4ghz and no blue screen. my cooling is sufficient, never runs hot, side of case all the time aswell. just any more than 4 is a no go

hmm vega 56 sounds like it could be a good option

There is no minimum OC.. He could have poor cpu, mobo, ram or all 3.

I had an i3 6100 that did 4.5, then I got a new motherboard that should have been better but only get 4.2Ghz

im not quite sure whats causing my poor overclock. my ram is supposed to one of the best for overclocking although ive never tried that either. ive just never been able to get much out of it.

I don't think I would pc my ram. I'm not sure it would really gain me anything.

So cpu to 4ghz. Think just a new GPU for the time being is the best route.
