Heyooo
So I'm waiting to get a non-ref 290. And I'm upgrading to a z87 board with a new processor. Both for gaming and music production.
I've heard games like BF4 are hitting processors hard, is there any good reason I should opt for the i7 over the i5?

I have gone for the 4770k for a bit of future-proofing and (hopefully) to stop me wanting to upgrade again too soon.

I'd say 4770k for multi-GPU setups and 4670k for single.

It's pretty damn hard to max out an oc'd 4670k on a single GPU even in the future.

Of course, rendering and editing is a completely different story.

4670k here running at 4.6ghz with 3 gtx 680s. No throttling on CPU side so far :) It is a good over clock though. If you have the money then 4770 but I did go for 4670 even though I had the money:) Don't think there's much benefit to ht in a game system generally.

Likewise - have gone for 4670K instead of 4770K. Couldn't justify paying £100 for 4 "virtual" cores that I would rarely need a use for.

What CPU & motherboard you have at the moment?

Without knowing about it, cannot advice what might be the most efficient way.

As for 4670 vs 4770, if you plan to get 4770, consider to do a sidestep to 4820K. The costs are the same, except you go a Z87 motherboard, that goes for less than £120.
