When I installed my Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler I think I used the thermal paste that came with it (I thought I used some MX-2). I noticed when I ran a Prime95 torture test my temps were getting a little high for my liking, around 75c after about 5mins. I used the pea method when applying the paste I think.
I have cleaned all that off and have now reapplied with the MX-2 that I have (its quite old, around 7 years). This time I have used the method that I have always used (30+ or more times) which is spread a small amount over the top of the CPU.
Any way, I still think my temps are high, they are slightly less, about 1-2c less. Is this ok for my cooler? I ran the test for just over 10 mins. The 4690k is boosting to 3.9GHz on all cores.
P.S I have a Antec P182 case with 2x 120mm exhausts and 2x 120mm intakes (one is in the lower, isolated section with the PSU and 4x HDDs).
*edit* I should have said, my idle temps are 28c.
Thanks

Downloading realbench now to try (I have slow 8mbit connection ;D)
Here's a guide to what I use to monitor temps and how to optimize case airflow and cooling
