How long should a 4690k be good enough for single GPU gaming of latest titles?

unfortunately we're not able to see into the future

However, given previous progress it may well be fine for more than 5 years.

We've had this thread before quite recently.

A good while really but at some point 4 cores only may become a limiting factor due to consoles having more than that available...although weaker.

I would say 3 years min 5 years max for AAA titles

Id agree with the above of 3-5 years. For games, theres so little difference between intels mainstream chips of recent generations.

People are still happily playing the latest games on their i7 920 so you be fine for a while yet.

Not like it used to be back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Its the GPU which makes the difference these days.

Most games only use 1 core anyway. Hopefully it will change and push things along like it used too.
I've just got one and no intention of upgrading for the next 4 years (just hope it OC's well).
