4770 Blurry after games

hi guys,

Yesterday replaced my 6800 GS 256mb with a nice new shiny HD 4770 512mb, and also installed windows 7 premium from RC.

I've been playing CoD:WaW and CoD4 which play fantastic now in comparison to the 6800 GS. However everytime I close a game, the monitor is super blurry and text is so foggy, it slowly seems to correct itself but I want it to stop because it gives me headaches

What could It be?

I tend to run ingame resolution at 1152 x 864 because all other resolutions (higher and lower) cut the screen short and I have a small gap on the right where its just black...

Also, bit of a rookie question. I reinstalled windows 7 because there was no upgrade for RC however all my programs are installed in Windows.old.... What is the disadvantage of running my old applications from this folder rather than reinstalling all of them?

I assume you're running a CRT and/or the connection is VGA?

TFT, but yes my card only came with DVI so I had to use the VGA>DVI cable.

Is this the issue?

is 1152 x 864 the native resolution for the tft ?

thats certainly a strange resolution to be running :S TFT's tent to be blurry when not running native resolution

try 1280x1024 mate

My naive resolution for the monitor is 1680x1050.

I've tried all different resolutions but they're all giving me the same blur.

On closer inspection, the blur seems to be in columns. as if there are 4cm stripes down the screen which differ in level of blur....

I'm thinking I need to get a new monitor with DVI or simply try another convertor?

Anyone recommend a good convertor? (My monitor is VGA, my GPU is DVI)

Try another cable if you can, it'd also be helpful if you could post up an image of what's happening too.

I had a similar problem, does your monitor have a 'control panel' sort of thing? See if you can find an option called 'Phase' or something similar. Change that until you find something that works.
