I notice that was benchmarked with an X58 board so presumably the PCI slots would be running at 16x whereas they'd be at 8x on a P45 board, wonder how much difference that would make? I wish when they did these benchmarks they'd do them on P45 kit as well, I bet there are more P45 boards being used than X58. I think another HD4770 will be my next purchase, should make a very good value for money upgrade. Oh by the way, if my current card is a gigabyte would the other one need to be an identical gigabyte one as well?

I would not think x8 2.0 lanes would affect these cards much. From what I've seen x16 2.0 lanes really only provides a significant increase with heavy AA + AF at resolutions above 1920x1200...at which I would want cards with 1Gb vram or more anyway.

Wow, well I'm very glad I went for my HD4770 and not the HD4850 then. Next month I'll get another HD4770 and be in gaming heaven :)

Id been looking for a single card solution, 4870, 260 to replace my old 8800 gts.

Looking at the numbers on this, hard not to consider it.

Question to those that know, my old as motherboard is a GA-M57SLI-S4, looking at crossfired 7700's, will it work, is it supported?

Honestly no idea being out of the loop on hardware for so long.

That's an SLI board so no, it shouldn't work.

Dam i wish i had a crossfire board instead of my stupid mis p7n tri sli board.

why? you can get a couple of OCuk 9800GT for the same price as the 4770 and get slightly better performance than 2x 4770 (well maybe not in vantage but should in games).

x8 even at PCI-e 1.0 won't hold the 4770 back much if at all - they are ballpark 8800GT performance and 8800GT SLI runs fine on an x8 slot with little to no performance impact compared to x16.

EDIT: Actually that would make some interesting benchmarking... 9800GT SLI v 4770 CF, your at a point where everything else is equal except the multi GPU scaling efficency.

The HD 4770 actually has an average 20% lead over the 8800GT/9800GT/GT240/WTFBBQ/ROFLCOPTOR

Yeah single card v single card, I'm talking CF V SLI.

EDIT: Actually I'd need to see more benchmarks to be sure, I've only seen a couple so far - both of which both showed the SLI system 1-2% faster. But thats not really the whole picture.
