Hello,
Specs in sig and using a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H motherboard. I have followed the guide on OC.net and understood some/most of it but used their basic templates to get started. As I only have a moderate air cooler I thought I would aim for 4.4GHz after lots of testing and increments I currently have it sitting at:

4.4GHz
Vrin Ext Override - 1.9v
Vcore - 1.285
CPU Ring volt 1.95

and have also re-enabled C1E, C3, C6/C7 and EIST. However, all the .05 increments have just been added and ext override upped from 1.8 (all the C1E, C3 etc were disabled as well) as although the system passed AIDA for over an hour, 3D Mark and then after playing BF4 for over an hour an a half I got a lock up, weird pink overlaying the screen and the system rebooted, also when it does this after the immediate reboot its slow getting into the bios but a solid shut down and start solves that fine.

My graphics card overclocks HAVE been completely stable in BF3 sessions lasting hours so I don't think its that.

I have upped everything a little as mentioned but temps are already in the 75-85 range with AIDA although 60-70 when gaming so acceptable there. I haven't stress tested these settings in BF4 yet as don't have time left tonight but any ideas where I should be going? Volts are going up and up so i'm wondering if its just a simple setting i've missed or one I should particularly up further.

Also since setting all the C1E, C3 etc etc back to auto the system isn't downclocking and is constantly at 4.4GHz. Ideas?

Thank you.

If its running a 4.4Ghz all the time it sounds like you turned off smart step, at least i think thats its name.

Generally people run the bench tests longer than an hour for stability but often a game will touch a part they dont so could just need a little more volts

The gigabyte powersaving states are weird.

I have noticed only turning EIST to enabled does the downclocking; otherwise nothing happens on mine. "Auto" = Off. I just left the other states enabled as well, but they don't seem to make a difference.

Also check windows power plan usage: CPU min speed should be 5%, otherwise no downclocking or downvolting.
