4770k idle temps ok?

The reason I ask is!! I cant for the life of me get my CPU cooler to fit correctly. From a cold boot its idling at 40 degrees as standard clock. Is that ok?

CPU cooler is Noctua NH-C14

Idle temps can be tricky to monitor, best bet is to run at full load and check.

Run Prime and check full load temps

40 Degrees seems OK - have you tried reapplying thermal paste?

my 4770K idles at 34c with the stock cooler.

now 22c with water!
