Hi – I need some help and I have read countless guides and countless forums and I am pulling my hair out abit. I have experience OC’ing Kentsfield but this is my first Haswell.

So I have:
4770K
Mpower Max Z87
2x4GB Avexir Core Series MPOWER RAM 2400Mhz CL10
625W Hyper PSU
GTX 770 MSI Gaming Ed.
Zalman Closed Loop LQ310 with Extra Corsair 120mm fan pulling.

OC Genie runs the CPU at 4.2GHZ and Ram at XMP timings at 2400. The core voltage is 1.232v and my chip barley breaks a sweat on a closed loop Zalman Lq310. ~ 55C

So tried gunning straight for a 4.5Ghz clock, things were pretty stable at 1.25V, intel MSI stress testing passed but I had some memory errors on Prime95 but I didn’t BSOD. Temps maxed at 69C after a couple hours.

I tried squeeking the voltage up and made 1.29V and still had all the same problems, wasn’t comfortable with this voltage despite temps still being fairly ok (like to keep it under 75C). Temps were below 80C on Prime95

I tried under-clocking the RAM to try and improve stability to 1600MHz CL9 then had BSOD!

All along keeping the ring at 3900Mhz. If I move the ring I get BSOD! – Also read about matching ring voltage but mpower MAX board flags red.

Can I add more VCCIN?
Mess around with offsets?
Is my PSU just inadequate – only old bit of my build.?

I also heard prime95 is not good for Haswell – but I had game crashes on BF4 – but hard to know if this was just BF4 issues pre-patch.

I was planning on starting my OC from scratch and working up to see if I can get a stable 4.4Ghz, but I thought with my chip running fairly low temps it could make a decent clock.
If I start again from 4.2Ghz and work up should I keep RAM at 1600 or 2400? And if at 1600 should XMP be on or off?

Cheers!
