Hi all I've just purchased a maximus hero mobo and 4770k. I'm wanting to over clock but the more I read the more complicated it gets!

So tell me if this is right

My goal is 4.5ghz

From what I've read all I have to do is bump my CPU to 4ghz. And work my way up from there until I BSOD.

If it crashes and I haven't reached 4.5ghz yet bump the voltage up bit by bit until no crashes happen.

Then turn off all power saving options on mobo?

Then if all seems well just run a stress test over night and make sure my temps haven't exceeded 85degrees.

Please add anything else I need to do or shouldn't do!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Dave.

You do not need to stress over night. Pointless as 8pack would say, just run your system the way you want to run it.....
-------
bck 100
muli 45x
uncore 4.0-4.1
memory @XMP if not XMP memory, make sure you manally dial in those timings.
T1 command enable
vcore 1.25v
Ring 1.175v

then test memtest first with 3 passes each on test 6 and 7 then a full 2 pass test.
then boot into windows and use like you would do untill something happens if you bsod124, bump only vcore. untill stable.

Virus that is fantastic thank you :-)? What about all power saving options ?

Also would you recommend going higher than 4.5gh purely for performance? I'm not doing it soon can show off that I reached 4.8 all I want is the best I can get out of it gaming wise !

If you think yea then where would I go from the 4.5 mark with the settings you've given me, obviously increase the ghz and then what?

Thanks
