I'm awaiting the news possibly later today.....

I do a lot of photo editing ... and am looking at getting into video editing this year more.....

in your opinions is it or will it be a big enough jump to warranty a full upgrade I don't play games at all on my pc.....

I have a 950 gtx atm but would upgrade this instead of a motherboard/cpu etc if I thought it would help

the 4770k appears to do everything I ask atm but I am becoming a little bored with it which really is the main factor.... any advice about possible upgrade???

on this alone, you should resist the upgrade itch. Might be worth waiting for the next generation of intel stuff towards the middle of this year.

tbh I think you are totally right ... patience has never been my strong point... I'm guessing the graphics card and a newer ssd could help my itch until later int he year as I'm still on a ocz vertex 3

You're becoming bored with it? An upgraded CPU is hardly going to do anything to help that unless performing tasks slightly quicker excites you.

4820K here which is largely very similar to the 4770K - totally nothing out there worth the money and hassle of changing over IMO unless you were running like SLI GTX1080 or counting every last second when encoding something, etc.

cheers mate again reconfirms my initial thoughts... I need a new graphics card and faster ssd to last me out for the next 6 months at least :-)

The extra cores and threads would help shave time off your video encoding but I don't think it would be worthwhile cost wise as it would require a new motherboard etc.

Don't bother unless you are going X99 setup or a pointless upgrade and even then I would say wait and stay with what you have and upgrade other parts of your system, SSD, new monitor, etc .. things that will make a real world difference.

Will the 1060 make much of a difference to you?

I always save my pennies for sales after the next big thing. Even if Zen and Vega aren't as successful as we all hope I still can't see prices remaining as they are. If they are, well there's your potential upgrade path.
