4770k to 2700x?

Strictly for gaming.

I have 1080 Ti / PSU / Case / SSD etc...

Want a cheap upgrade to improve fps, min fps & 0.1% lows.

Thoughts on this ? was thinking down the road i can drop in a 3950x if i get a 1/2 decent motherboard? been out the computer scene for a while now so perhaps i'm talking nosense?

also any recommendations on a motherboard would be great, i think ryzens can auto overclock on something called PMBO? just seen a few vids on YT but i'm far from knowledgeable

So you guys reccomend the 3600 instead of the 2700 (similar price)

Does the ryzen 3950x (future upgrade path) go in any ryzen motherboard or is it a hedt type of motherboard ?

Also will ryzen 4000 probably work on am4 boards ? - just thinking altenative upgrade path is all.

Looks like I got a lot of research ahead of me.

One question does the ryzen auto overclocking work on b450 boards or only on 470?
