Hi guys.

Just wondering if someone might be able to do a quick sanity check for me since I have been out of the loop for a while on CPUs and the like. After finally sorting out a replacement motherboard my new system is up and running. everything seems good and stable, but I was just wondering if someone could do a quick look at the display here and see if anything is obviously amiss. The only thing I have noticed is that the chip gets real hot in games (can get up to low 70s) but I understand this is pretty normal for Haswell and nothing to worry about. I am not interested in overclocking at all and would like to run at factory settings, which is why i was wondering if the ASUS AI suite was changing things. Should the cores not be running at a lower speed when not in use?

I didn't had an Intel since 2010, however I believe there is a "cool & quiet" setting in the bios?

The CPU downclocks to save power when the performance is not needed. If you loaded up a game or something that needs performance then the CPU will clock up :) You can enable/disable it in the BIOs and I think it's called something like "speedstep". If thats enabled you could check the power plans on your Windows as if its in high performance mode the CPU wont clock down.

Looks fine, although it does seem hot. If you're on the stock heatsink maybe stick in a cheap £20-30 heatsink to increase longevity.

Think you are right. I know this is probably the wrong forum, but is a Corsair Hydro H80 likely to see big changes in temperatures from a stock cooler (or even a £30 air cooler)?
