4790 idle @60+ c , help needed please.

Ok so today I cleaned my PC it was filthy , so i got it all back together but now my CPU ( 4790 non k with no OC ) is sitting idle at 60+c and no idea why , i reseated my silverstone AIO 240 cooler ( the one with the metal pump case) but it made no difference at all , im assuming the 240 cooler pump still works as there is a white light on the pump, so maybe an issue with my CPU ?.

How old is the AIO, and can you hear any pump noise?

I've had it maybe nearly 2 years and no cant hear any pump noise.

Could you hear pump noise previously? Although the LED may be working the pump may have died.

No Ive never heard any noise from the pump before that I recall

Are the pipes near the pump warmer than they are where they enter the RAD? If you still have the original box cooler it might be worth trying that as it shouldn't be idling at 60 degrees.

OK when I went to reseat the cooler I did notice one of the pipes was hotter than the other which was a lot cooler and the pump itself was pretty hot actually , but sadly I dont have the cooler that came with the CPU

It sounds like the pump has died or is on the way out. Do you have any other coolers you could plop on the CPU to check the temps? Possibly RMA time as Silverstone have a 5yr warranty.

It would be worth giving it a go, as my 4790K is now idling at about 30 degrees.

yeah those are the temps I would expect to be seeing, But i'll see if i have anything and bung it on , thanks for the help drakulton

OK so the other cooler i had was just no good at all it had leaked lol...so had to buy a new one which should turnup today .

Is the CPU delidded? May be an option for extra coolidge or quietliness while the PC is out of comission.

I did my 4690K and then a 4790K. I didn't realize how easily the IHS would come off. And the temps are great too.

oki got a h100i pro do i connect the pump to the mobo fan header or the PSU via sata conncter ?

Not 10% sure but I think the pump goes to sata and the cooler fans go to the mobo fan header.

OK so i got it all in and connected in and my CPU seems to be as it should
