4790k getting 100c on stock cooling in Crysis 3.

100c is the thermal limit will either throttle itslef or shut ur entire pc down. I really wouldnt like mine above 80c for extended periods

Tried reseating the CPU cooler and cleaning out the computer?

It may also be worth checking the voltage of the 4790K. My Asus motherboard defaulted the voltage to 1.3v! I was able to reduce it to 1.2v ish easily which really helped keep things cooler.

Also make sure the motherboard is on the latest bios. Early versions for the 4790k overvolt pretty high.

CPU is fine, theese chips run quite hot. Not helped by summer time, and the stock cooler is very basic. How much voltage is the CPU using under load. Check with cpuz.

Thats way way to hot for stock speeds even on the Intel cooler.

I reckon you should be seeing core temps around 65 max, and tcase around 75 max.

I have an i7 4770k with core temps under 55 on an Arctic i30 cooler.
