Hi all i posted this is the mobo section but im hoping to get a little more joy here
........
My current spec is i5 4670k, z87-a, 2x 8gb hyper x fury, gtx1070, 750w psu
I recieved a 4790k yesterday. I had allready installed the lastest bios (2103) using the ez flash in the bios
So i cleared the cmos and installed the i7. The machine powered on but wouldnt post. I have since installed two other bios versions (for the devils canyon cpu) 2004 and 1707 i believe. I have used both ez flash via the uefi and the asus tool in windows
where i am at now is .....
It is back to the latest bios. With no cpu installed the board powers on (but i obviously get a cpu error red led) with the i5 fitted it boots fine, but with the i7 the board it wont even power on. The fans twitch slightly and the screen flickers (from the "no signal" screen to plane black) for a half second or so but then nothing, no leds or anything
Refit the i5 and its fine again.
Has anyone any experience with this or idas?
I know it sounds like a faulty cpu but im trying to work all the other possibilities first
Many thanks
Jason
And sorry this was typed on my phone ha
