Hi all,

I'm sure this has been discussed a few times already, but would a 5930k yield noticeably higher frame rates over a 4790k at 4K resolution in a 980 Ti SLI setup?

I thought that consensus was that it might only make 1 or 2 fps difference but I just watched this comparison video on youtube and across 3 games (Crysis 3, GTA V, Witcher 3), the 5930k noticeably ahead.

Surprised theres so much of a difference tbh? Im assuming that those three games tested make use of the extra cores/threads on the 5930k. Ive recently moved from a 4790k at 4.7ghz to a 5820k at 4.5ghz. In what im playing theres virtually zero difference.

But you're not playing at 4K by the looks of your sig?

Nope, briefly tried 4k using DSR but that was with an older gtx 780 sli setup on the 4790k. Only recently swapped over to the setup in sig and a new monitor.

That's strange. I had a 3970x @ 4.7ghz and when I switched it out with a 2ghz 8 core Ivy @ 2ghz I saw absolutely no difference in FPS in GTAV.

Having said that though I was only running SLI Titan Black which would be far more GPU bound than say two 980tis.

I would go 5930k for the lanes/possible better slot layout though.

Wow, there is quite a difference in tha video, wouldnt have thought the extra lanes would make that much difference. I wonder if its the same for ATI cards.
