Hi Guys,

First time overclocking a 4790K, previously I've overclocked a i5 760 and Q6600 which simply involved changing the CPU voltage and multiplier which is simply what I've done here.

I'm still playing with the CPU Core Voltage but it seems stable enough at the moment and Windows temps idle at 28oC with load peaking at around 60oC under a custom waterloop. Some of the guides on the internet talking about cache voltages and ring and a whole host of other voltages. Are these really needed? Are the settings in my screenshot OK for a basic 4.6GHz overclock?

Yeah, more than OK, if this is stable, you have yourself a pretty decent chip, I would recommend pushing more, also set your VCCIN Voltage to 1.9V, the same volts but without auto, so that it properly stays at those volts, rather than increasing it past that point.
If you do wish to increase your cache ( ring ) then increase your ring coltage to 1.15 and attempt 4.3 On it, if it works then try 4.4 Until it is unstable, when increasing cache speeds you massively increase the responsiveness of the PC, as it increases the DRAM Bandwidth and decreases latency.

The extra settings are not always needed. When I had my 4790k I could run it at 4.5ghz just by changing the multiplier to 45 and changing the CPU voltage to 1.2v
