Yo Guys,

Currently have my 4790K at 4.4 on the standard boost thing they have but looking to push this higher. Anyone able to give me some advice on this?

Seen some YouTube videos on it but wondered if anyone with this chip have some tips.

Never done CPU overclocking so hesitant to try and get it wrong.

Appreciate it.

Which motherboard do you have? This will have a big impact on how far you can overclock and how stable it will be. The same for your cooler.

Good rules of thumb for overclocking are:

Only overclock one component at a time

Raise the value (clock, voltage, ratio, whatever) in small steps and test properly at each step

Watch temperatures and factor that in - sometimes an extra 5 degrees for 100MHz isn't worth it

Make notes! You will mess with a lot of numbers and can get lost in what your last good, stable overclock was. Photos, screenshots, pencil and paper, Excel, all help.

Ah cool, I have GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK motherboard and the cooler is a NZXT Kraken X61.
