Evening all!

I've been playing around with my 4790k today. I've managed to ramp her up to 4.8GHz with the vcore manually set to 1.3v. I've run test after test and it's completely rock solid. Peak temperature under synthetic loads is 77c, but that was a one time high, it's normally around 73c. In games it hangs around the 60's.

Question is, is 4.8GHz a normal overclock for a 4790k, quite good, or a bit low?

I tried 4.9GHz and as soon as I fire up and stress on it I get a BSOD no matter what voltage I push through it. I'd kind of hoped for the legendary 5GHz, but alas no.

Gigabyte Z97P-D3 motherboard
Corsair H100i GTX 240mm AIO

Just wondering but have you tried prime 95 at 4.8Ghz? I can get my 4970k running at 4.9Ghz with 1.3v and it will run synthetic benchmarks and stress tests such as Asus Realbench no problem but when I try Prime 95 it falls over within 10 minutes no matter how much voltage I give it. With Prime I can only run stable at 4.6Ghz with 1.26v vcore.
