4790k overheating

Recently I realised my 4790k was throttling while gaming so I l put the stock cooler on to test which didn’t perform as it should have either.

I delidded and used mx4 not liquid metal. Temps dropped so that it doesn’t throttle in games but it still throttles after a couple of seconds in any stress test. The ihs is on fine and the cooler is definitely seated properly as I can see all the pins underneath.

My bios settings are the same as when everything worked fine and this happens in a cold room with everything outside a case...a lot cooler than my incredibly cramped SG05.

My igp freezes after a few seconds in window too and nothing sorts it (dvi instead of hdmi/different OSs/allocating more memory) but my memory is absolutel fine.

Some backstory...I used to run a mild overclock of 4.5 all cores at 1.224. Last year it wouldn’t hold this anymore and the cpu has had a fair bit of heat but not volts through it over the years. Gaming on it is fine, it doesn’t blue screen or anything.

I’d like to sell it cheap to a coworker but would rather sort everything. The only things left for me to consider are a warped board (it does look bent but holding the cooler on gives identical results) and a damaged motherboard component.

Anyone have anything else I could try? I have no parts to test with. Thanks
