The hells going on? Got a new motherboard about 2-3 weeks ago, now my CPU is hitting temperatures of 48 degrees after a game of CSS. CPU is 3800, HSF is Asus Star Ice, at max speed (4700 RPM).

Any ideas? I'm pretty sure it was seated properly.

no, dual cores regularly run that hot.

My watercooling only brings mine down to 44 ish on a warm day

Tom

He didnt say it was dual core :p

But the star ice is a rubish cooler and 48c isnt that hot

oh ffs

the star ice is a good cooler....

the ops NEW BOARD IE NOT THE SAME AS THE OLD 1 is probably reading wrong AS ITS NEW

my advice is flash the bios

No such thing as a single core 3800.. :p Whats it clocked at at default?

lol yes there is. A64 3800 newcastle is single core and runs 2.4Ghz

If it wasn't running that hot before the new mobo (with same hsf?) then its either not seated properly or the mobo is over reading. Have a google for the mobo and see if over reading is a common problem, if not then try reseating it :)

Under 50C is totally fine anyway.

Whats wrong with 48 degrees?

My AMD XP 2000 regularly runs at about 37 no load to 45 load. Tis fine as far as I'm aware. AMD says they can go up to about 60 safely (Check me on that someone) I think.

I agree, you cannot compare one mobo to another as there are big differences.

Even a BIOS update can change the CPU temp by 10C when in reality the CPU temp is the same.

What's more important is the stabillity, if your system is stable it's fine, if it isn't then change stuff.
