I can remember watching the recent Indiana Jones movie after no sleep for 2 days. Maybe it was the rubbish movie but i couldnt focus my eyes & had to bite my tongue.
Longest I've managed is 30 hours. Bizarrely what finished me off was coffee. I had a couple of triple espressos to try and keep myself going, but the caffeine comedown 90 minutes later was painful. I simply had to sleep after that.
IIRC, the Romans used a particularly cruel method of execution by shackling someone to a wall, then carefully trimming their eyelids off with a sharp blade so that they couldn't sleep. They'd usually die after a week.
The most i've gone is something like 36 hours. I just couldn't think straight and actually found it very hard to go to sleep when i eventually went to bed.
Enjoyed reading some of the posts in this thread, especially the hallucinations Most i have done must be somewhere between 36-48hrs back at uni but cant remember. Now it seems silly with some of the stupid dares we did that no one did an insomnia marathon - would do it now but i really dont think it's a good use of holiday
I don't think I've ever been awake longer than 48-50 hours....and it was either due to jetlag or raving back when I was in highschool. Doing it just for kicks though, you're a nutter!
