I have a GTX 480 I bought off here 6 months ago and have been having some issues with it.

I've just got Assassins creed 3 and have only managed to play it for about 10 minutes before the computer re-starts.

I have been using afterburner to monitor temps and usage etc.

The fan had been running at 80% and temps in the low 70's at 100% usage and it still restarts. It's my understanding that these can go out to 100 degrees?

I have a 750W PSU and nothing is over clocked.

Any ideas? Thanks

its all at stock votages no overclock

PSU is a ocz x-stream pro 700 watts

it does it on a few games. Sleeping dogs, assassins creed, splinter cell conviction. some times i can get an hour of gameplay then not even 10 min

Temps dont past 75 degrease

newest drivers 314.6 or something (updated today)

Only in games just re-starts no BSOD

I checked the events manager and the error was kernal-power (63)

quick good came across a thread

about audio drivers (i have noticed an annoying popping from speakers which i couldn't get read off)

I had 4 nvidia hd audio drivers installed and a realteck one. disabled all 4 nvidia ones and will see if its fixed.

Good find on the audio drivers and hopefully that will cure your problem.

I would try reinstalling 306.23 (custom install - clean install) and uncheck the audio drivers.

Use driver sweeper to clean all Nvidia drivers first though and then restart.

I say 306.23, as the general Nvidia populace agreed they were the best for stability issues.

Bit of an update.
Re-installed windows and drivers computer resets.
same for 3.06 drivers.

I played saints row3 for about 20 min with the card at 75% usage all seemed fine. the relised i was playing at the wrong resolution, changed it card up to 99% and then 30 seconds later, restart.

Now this is where it went a bit funny, when it was re-booting it stalled on the motherboard screen )P55-GD65) and i had one long beep from the computer. So i turned it off and started it again, same thing. I left it and it started up all be it quite slow. It seems to be working fine but im not sure why it beeped its never done it before.

Any ideas. Dodgy power supply? its 3 1/2 years old and has had a fare amount of use.

I forgot to connect the 6 pin PCI-E lead to the 8800GT in the Wifes computer and it made a long beep untill I turned it off (constant), so could be a power issue. Is the cable connected tightly? Do you have another PSU to try?
