Which of these 2 cards would you go for?

1920x1080 gaming.

I can *NOT* go with ATI, so please don't suggest it. I need CUDA for a few applications I plan to use, (mostly Adobe's mercury engine).

Which card overclocks best, and best performance? From my research, they seem to trade blows, but the extra RAM on the 480 helps in 1 or 2 games, but not always. Plus the 570's seem to reach a higher frequency when overclocked?

the gtx 480 will be best at high resolutions as you've said, but the gtx 570 runs cooler, uses less power, and overclocks better.

If you think in terms of overclocking, the GTX570 would make more sense as it has slightly lower power consumption, a better and quieter cooler. Overclocking the GTX480 would make the hot even hotter...

And at just 1920 res, the GTX480's extra memory/bandwidth is not worth over the benefit that the GTX570 offers. But if someone was to watercool the card, then it would probably be a better idea to go GTX480, as temp and noise wouldn't be much of an issue.
