4800+ Bottleneck 8800GTS?

Would my 4800+ at stock bottleneck an 8800GTS 640MB. I already own the CPU, tempted by the Dell 24" monitors and thus a 8800GTS to go with it. Would my CPU bottleneck or should I REALLY be looking at a C2D 6600 or something?
 
it can feed it more information than a dual core as one core can do background and the other games
but any way it should be fine

The fact is dual core has nothing to do with it.

It was a rhetorical question.

So will it or won't it bottleneck? Could theorectically save me thick end of £300.

Well my 2.5ghz X2 was a bottleneck for my X1900XTX @ 1600x1200, 6xAA and 16xAF.


So I'd say most defiantly. How much? Well, I went from around 50-100 to 100 constant with a 2.8ghz Conroe.

So Anything from sod all diff to quite a big diff in CPU limited games.
 
errm a 4800 x2 aint no bottle neck, the faster the cpu the better.

you could say a c2d e6600 is a bottle neck at stock for a GTX the fact is the faster the cpu is the better. my 3ghz dualcore is no bottle neck and its a AMD :eek: i score same if not better then some c2d@3ghz

A 3 ghz C2D destroys a Opty @ 3ghz


And this is refected in 06 for example.

now can you show me a benchy that "destorys my amd benchy" (with gts wid same or near clocks) i dont mean few hundred marks as we all know c2d are faster clock for clock.

also how much bottle necked am i compared to cd2

The main benchy was 3dmark 06 score 10350
