I've just edited a profile and changed the fan speed with the fan mod. I've decided to go with 35% for idle/desktop and also underclocked it to 500/810 (3240) with ATI Overdrive. Is it a good idea to underclock it if it's going to be doing very little or should I leave it to do it automatically? Other than video playback I can't see anything that will demand much of it while say browsing the net or using Photoshop. At these settings the temp is ~59c which isn't to bad considering it's in a HTPC case. Also, what would be a good speed for when I am gaming? I've decided to go with 40% but I don't know if that'd be enough. I haven't overclocked it either.

Because it's a good card. :)

All I want to do is alter the fan speed just to keep it a little cooler. It was at 80c idle before so a 20c drop is great.

Just seems odd that you bought a new / next gen card and then underclocked it because it wouldn't be used.

I know they are good cards, I have two :D

Guess I didn't expain myself well, sorry.

What I mean is I want to underclock it while idle (not playing any games) so it runs a bit cooler and then clock it to default when playing games. I may overclock it in the future but I don't really want to bother messing with it just as of yet. I've got 2 profiles and I enable the gaming one for when I'm going to play anything.
