Ive recently upgraded my monitor running at res 1920 by 1200 on an ATI 4850 512mb and have started to see it struggle to run at that res and run really hot under water cooling.

I wondered if you guys could recomend a great card that would run at this res and also be future proof ready for an upgrade early next year.Obviously I would need to buy a waterblock aswell for it, so would be looking at 300inc block as my budget, but the cheaper the better :)

4890 or GTX 275 would be ideal.

However a 4870 1GB would be fine as well as these are starting to be cheaper. I have one and it runs great at 2048x1152.

Would any of these also be future proof too mate, what about the double GPu cards, would they be a waste or are they worth the money.

There is no such thing as future-proof... ever.

If you want great gaming at 1920 by 1200 for another year or possibly two then go for 2x GTX260 (216 SP) in SLI... you can get them for 149 quid each now, and they work out much cheaper than a GTX295!

i meant for the next couple of years :D, plus was hoping to stick to a single card

In that case I think a 1GB 4890 will serve you well. Or a GTX 275. OC'd to shizz and back of course! :)

have they released the waterblocks for these cards (4890) yet do you know of mate, ive had a quick scout and couldn't see anything.

A GPU only block will work fine, the full covers won't. You will need to cool the VRMs as well. I use a Zalman RHS70 which does a really great job of cooling the VRMs. Looking at the card layout I'm 99% sure the RHS70 will also fit the 4890, but I would double check before buying.
