I've read about this issue on Anandtech. It turns out the guy simply had some Nvidia files left on his PC that caused conflict with the ATI drivers. He had to do a clean install for it to work.

Try using Driver Sweeper to clean all Nvidia display files. Restart the computer, then run Driver Sweeper again. You'll find that there are some System 32 files it didn't delete before. After that, install the hotfix drivers again and see if it works.

No it wont be driver related if the PC wont even post?

Sounds like either

  • Borked PSU
  • Borked GPU
Can you try another PCI-E card C64?

I think it's the corsair hx 520 I have just tried an old enermax 365 noisetake on the rig and it booted doesnt work now though so i tried the corsair on an nfs7 athlon pc and no go so looks like it is the corsair its only a year old too hmm
dreading the rma postage cost.

Thanks will probbaly send it off then still not sure if it is the psu as I have just tried the enermax again on the rig and it wont post hmm what a mess think ill try the paperclip test

I took the cmos battery out and it posted fine using the eneramx tested it a further 3 times with the batt in and it seems fine the corsair wont even power a 7600gs agp and barton 2800 so now concede its the power supply.
What a time to go wrong fine for all this time then no use for 2 weeks put a 4850 in and it goes bad hmm cheers for the offer wayne but it surely must be the hx520 if it cannot power as above. There was no pop no smell the fan is spinning fine very strange.
Looks like maybe these corsairs aren't as good as we all think had mine a good while I suppose though.

Well it started it's life powering a 4300 @3.2ghz 7600gt 3 hard drives etc then it was an 8800gts 320 and [email protected] then an 8800gts 640 then an 8800gt then a 4850.
Mounted at top it's entire life in an akasa eclipse 62 trying to dig out the receipt as I cant remember how old it is I think it's like jan 07 or something.
Also that corsair rma is confusing it has 2 hx520 models mine hasn't got uk at the end I take it I select uk though ?

Hmm had a good life eh!

I am not familiar with the new Corsair UK RMA process but maybe you could track down yellowbeard?

Bottom line sounds like yous PSU is dead or half dead, the good news is your covered by a five year warranty and you only have to ship the faulty unit to a UK address.

Package is likely to weigh just over 2Kg so if you use Royal Mail:

Standard Parcels - £6.85
Delivery Aim 3 Days

Or an extra £2.09 gets you . . .

Recorded (Signed For) First Class - £8.94
Delivery Aim 1 Day
