4850 hard Voltmod, maximum voltage?

Just a quick question.

what's a safe vGPU voltage to run through a 4850 that i should never go over? It is water cooled.

at the moment it is @33c load overclocked to 730/1100 on stock volts (removed a previous pencil mod), DMM says 1.13V under load. i want to push it a bit more.

pencil mod is too fiddily and takes ages to get the right voltage so decided on a hard mod. I already bought a 100k VR.

1.158v is nowhere near enough for a decent clock.

currently @ 800Mhz with 1.25v with pencil mod... still loads at only 35c so can push a bit more

I should rephrase, 1.158v is not enough volts for me to play with.

I flashed to a bios but drivers don't work in vista 64.

If I can get a modded bios working, with the current pencil mod, I am hopeful for ~1.35v load. This will be less hassle.

Do you edit your own bios with rbe, or download pre edited ones?

yeah, I'll be happy with 850 MHz at those volts. What are you temps like for both cards devious?

I might consider conductive paint, bit never used it before, is it removerable? I much more confident with a solder iron tbh

well, I flashed bios with 1.158v and overdrive limit raised.

Together with a pencil mod, now get 1.278v load and rock stable at 800mhz GPU and 1100MHz Mem. 40c max load. Think I will leave it like that :)

bugger off.

you come into this thread that i intended to get help from and u tell me to bugger off?

I was trying to show you hadn't just written a post then quoted it straight outright, that there was in fact a difference.

i guess i should thank you but the retarded comment was not taken well. be more responsible for what u type.

i can't be bothered to get into a tedious internet spout so lets just leave it there. well, i achieved what i was looking for in the end and big thanks for Mr Paul, gareth170, Devious, and gurusan for your input, its much appreciated.

as for krisboats, u can go back to what you was doing.

SIR, YES SIR!

I'd care you to read things again, though. Just so you don't actually look like a... well not a retard... I was having some playful banter with another member, and didn't actually call you any derogatory name. I said given a different instance... i.e. should you have clicked edit, it'd be clear you can't spell/spazzed something up. The fact you left both posts unedited left us seeing everything was fine and that you weren't in fact the "r" word.

Take things slower next time. Read through them one syllable at a time if need be and you won't need to get the wrong end of the stick :p

Why r u still here? I don't expect gurusan to find your comment funny. All you have done is cause offence and get into your head that 'retard' is not a funny or amussing word.

Honestly there are too many people with net access who cause trouble that they don't have to be responsible for.

No need to reply, as I don't expect it to end with you, saves us from getting in trouble with a ban.

A word on its.... ....actually about you.

jesus christ, when will this guy give up,

the matter is over with and you can go back to calling your friend retards all day for all i care. I never took your comments and replies seriously as i am generally not interested. Please do not write another essay of your opinions.

Back to topic, I edited my bios, (standard clocks, 1.158 volts in the higher clock states, 1.048V for lower states and overdrive limit raised to 800) and it worked fine. gave me ~1.278 volts as stated above.

But I updated to Catalyst 8.9 but now multimonitor (span over HDTV and LCD monitor) crashes the card. Only happens when i change settings in CCC.

Then flashed back to original bios and multimon now works fine at standard clocks. I still get about 1.21 volts and is stable @ 770Mhz (with rivatuner).

I prefere not to use rivatuner to get 800Mhz as i want to stick to one program. Any help on this?

look fella, in the end of the day, you implied (regardless of you mean to do it or not) that people that can't spell are retard.

its not like i want an apology as i don't expect one from someone like u. all i see is bombardment of your opinions on how you did nothing wrong. And fair enough, we live in difference moral grounds.

you can just move along now, maybe we can argue about something more of an importance/interest at a later date. :) bye

Idiots, retarded, stupid, illiterate, lazy. Yes. Especially with how easy it is to use a spellchecker.

Hardly a bombardment. Maybe you took what i wrote to heart because its a little bit true, who knows. A few lines of text is hardly a bombardment though.

Who's arguing? Your being sarcastic and rude after misconstruing what i wrote, and i'm sat here trying to show how it wasn't written how you read it.

I see your struggling to grasp it though so i shall leave and be the bigger man.

Hope you get a good overclock.

bye bye

edit: i just read this properly, if you feel a bigger man by satisfying your self ego with a tedious forum quarrel that i put no effort in contesting, than good on you. Enjoy your moment of 'victory' and maybe put it in your CV. :p

I run 1.28v (load) through my 4850. It is air cooled with an accelero S1 and the core is stable upto 850. Temps stay around 30deg idle and rise to 60 during long gaming sessions. Furmark is the only thing that really heats the card up but I don't play that very often:D.

nice m8, i had a S1 before water cooling and get about the same temps on stock speeds/volts.
