Hay all.

I thought i test my overclock against normal clocks to see what fps gain i was getting and it don't seem worth it to me.

I used stalker call of pripyat benchmark to do basic test.

Setting i used.

Preset - extrme

render enhanced full dynamic lighting

video mode 1440x900

Normal clocks - core 625MHz mem 993

Now overclocked clocks - core 680MHz mem 1050 (any higher get black shapes on the sceen :(

In other games i get maybe 5-8 extra fps.

I have probably just got a bad overclocker.

if that is an ati 4850 graphics card go to the catalyst control center, unlock the overcklocking section and get it to auto tune. This tunes it automatically and reduces the clock when it becomes unstable. This usually takes around half an hour

In my experience, overclocking a graphics card delivers very little performance gains. Counter that to the risk of frying it and I really don't think it's worth it.

id get around 5% fps boost if i oc both my 4850s. but its something for free i guess

My 8800gt (I think about the same performance as your 4850) is definitely overclocked, it's at 725 core up from 600. This does good things for folding at home, and probably measurable things for gaming. A free 5 fps can't be a bad thing.

Said card has been through hell really and is still working, I wouldn't be too worried about frying it at stock voltage.
