would a corsair 450w atx be enough to power a 4850? (have the right connectors etc?)

should or will?

just wanna make sure - looked on the site and its recommending at least 450 - but approved ones are 500

The corsair vx450 is a high quality psu, it can supply a continuous 450W to your components happily. A lot of psus only state their peak output which is why ati recommend 500W psus.

The peak draw of a 4850 is around 110W so as long as you haven't got an overclocked quad core with watercooling it will be fine.

will it have the right connector for that graphics card? dont wanna spend all that money then find out i cant connect the thing! :P

edit: beat me to it - cheers all - gonna place the order now!

guess what i'll be doing next weekend

also only running an e8400 - clocking to about 3.6 which can be done on stock so i've read

I run my 4850 on a Seasonic 430w with an E6750 @ 3.2, 2GB DDR2 800, pcie>firewire card, external audio interface, Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo drive and 2 120mm case fans. Had no problems with power at all so far.

My card (PowerColor) came with a molex>6pin cable.
