is it possible to return my HD4850 and swap for a 4870?if i pay the difference ?

I doubt it, unless the box is opened and everything is in its original packaging, and you pay the postage costs.

If you've bought it within 7 days you could return it under the DSR and recieve a refund, otherwise you'll have to sell it on or phone up the company you bought it from and ask. I know some manufacturers (EVGA) offer a step up program though not so sure on HIS.

You would need to call them. I think they can charge a restocking fee (?).
