my new 4850 arrived today installed latest 8.10 drivers, and run 3d mark06 with my 8800gt i scored 11.200 with my new 4850 i scored 10,000 ,and the 1st run on 3d mark i was getting really low fps compared to my 8800gt.i used driver sweeper.is this normal, and fallout 3 seemed slower.and stuttery,

Make sure your not forcing AA/AF/AAA etc via Catalyst Control Centre. 3d Mark 06 is no way of comparing newer cards btw.

10k seems a bit low, but its most likely a CPU bottlekneck..No idea why your 8800GT is getting higher considering you used the same system?

If its not because your forcing anything via CCC, I don't know.

3DMark06 doesnt respond well to the new GTX260/280 or the 4850/4870 unfortunately, kinda shows the limitations in its design. However I would double check the settings (CCC and ingame) you're on as unless fallout3 is badly optimised for ATI atm, the 8800GT is slower by about 15-20% than the 8800GT game dependant.

The 4850 is a pretty meager upgrade from a 8800GT (assuming your talking about the "newer" 512mb version). If you were expecting a big increase in performance you're going to be disappointed.

I disagree with the above....it's quite a nice upgrade....and I have been playing fallout 3 and it's silky smooth with everything maxed out 1680x1050 and 4xAA. Looks great and runs very well, wonderful engine.

did the same and i can attest to that...

PS, gurusan, your card is very highly clocked: at stock it's much less impressive

what drivers are you using im using 8.7 drivers.tried 8,10s but the 3d color wont save.

again I disagree...with the 4850 even at stock the 8800s can barely even compare in terms of AA performance imo. I had an 8800gTS 512mb which was vmodded to 900core/2.3ghz shader and Cod4 choked at 8xAA. At stock the 4850 handles it no prob.

And I am using thefarcry hotfix drivers
