4850 System Hangs - Diagnosing?

How do,

My brother has given me his 2 XFX 4850 cards to use but I am having some issues. Have installed them and enabled crossfire but when I play MOH the system hangs after the initial cutscene either just before or just after you take control.

Now I think 1 of the cards has some fault because I disabled crossfire and the same thing occured, but I then swapped the cards around, with just 1 running no hangups, but with 2 the game hung again (although not as quickly this time).

The cards are not overheating as I have checked the temps whilst playing and I have run furmark both with and without crossfire for 30 mins without seeing any issues and the card I think has a fault runs fine in the BF3 beta. In crossfire however BF3 runs awful (but that might just be the current ATI drivers)

Is there anyway to check the memory on a gfx card for faults? If it wasnt for the fact that I get hangups when not running crossfire with only 1 of the cards I would think its m PSU (its a 500w one) however I would have thought Furmark woud show this up...

Any thoughts?

Either the cards don't like being paired up together (as the bios's maybe slightly different or one may be an OC card and have different speeds to the other etc) or one card is shot!

Try one card in on it's own, then swap it for another. Test them both on there own basically.

If both seem ok, then it may seem both cards are incompatible with each other while in crossfire mode.

Driver could be problem!

Wouldn't be concerned about them running aweful in bf3 when crossfired, i'm having same issues with my 4870x2.. tried many different drivers and crossfire either gives same performance or worse than disabling it... :/
