Right I know my system is well old but its never gone wrong,,and still runs the games I like,,,,however I have been given a 4870 graphics card and was thinking of replacing my old card which is a 4850. Two questions though,,
1. Would I notice much difference between the 2 cards???
2. I have noticed that the 4870 has two,,six pin power plugs wheres I have only one power plug feeding my 4850,,,,,how do I get around that??,,is an adapter available?
My system,,which was built by OC is Q6600,,4mb ram,,,4850 graphics card, and I think the power supply is rated 550,,,thanks for any advice you can offer me.

you could use a molex to 6-pin PCI-E adapter provided that the psu can handle a 4870

you might see some minor improvement with the upgrade but hey its a free improvement

You will see a 10-15FPS improvement, the 4870 was once a high end card where the 4850 was mid range.

Assuming your PSU isn't a cheapo one, it should be able to power the card if you get a molex to 6pin GPU connector.

Thanks for the reply lads,,,my PSU is a OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent ATX2,,,,so you think a 4870 would be ok ?,,,if so I'll search out the leads you said about and plug it in !!
