I have a Q6600 based pc,,I'm not going to be upgrading it untill sometime next year however I've just been given a Powercolor ATI HD 4870 512mb. Is there much difference between this and my HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB. I have just bought a new 600w psu so I guess I have enough power its just I was wondering if there would be a noticable boost in my pc's performance.

I did the same "upgrade" years ago, and there's no real significant boost. You get around 12~15% better performance, however the reference cooler on the HD4870 series cards is better :)

As above - if both are stock then the higher core and memory clocks of the 4870 would net some extra performance. The power section on 4870's also tended to be more beefy so the potential for successful higher overclocks is there which theoretically should boost performance yet further.

What coolers do each of the cards have and are either factory clocked cards?

They are both standard cards,no extras or overclocking has been applied to either
