Can any one tell me how much diffence there is (expl fps)

coz im thinking off selling my 4850 and geting a 4890!

I would estimate double in some cases or if it were low res then very little difference.
In the past with ATI cards the higher memory speed has made a lot of difference (min fps) to games Ive played so I went with the 4870 this time for that reason

I went from a HD4830 to a HD4890 OC and the difference in games was very noticable, i game at 1920x1200 and play the newest games.
Most games got a 40-50% rise in fps some only 20-30% but it was worth it.

How about a 3850 X2 1024MB

Whilst that's an alright card, I'd personally get the 4890, particularly because dual cards don't perform particularly well at lower resolutions and at higher resolutions, the card is going to run out of VRAM (it only has 512MB accessible). The 3850 X2 is kind of lose/lose in terms of resolution compromises at this point. Also the 4890 will do much better with antialiasing applied, as the R600 generation of chips (including the X2 series) were pretty weak at AA.
