just swapped to a 1G from a 512Mb 4870, i plugged it in and.....nothing no signal being recieved from it.
have tryed 2 monitors, both pcie slots, different PSU connections but still getting nada


any ideas before i send it back!!
 
no i havent got one, but its the same i have been using and i have given it a thorough check for damage
 
Try the the VGA connection, the lack of a signal over a DVI connection is a well documented problem with ATI drivers and some monitors. Though that wouldn't explain why your 512MB card worked...but worth a shot anyway!
